Lull between TV Shows

This is the span between my network TV shows season finales and my cable TV shows season premieres. I’m re-watching last season of some of my shows to refresh my memory for the new seasons. I used to spend my summers only reading. However, USA hooked me on their shows and now I balance my summers with reading and TV watching.

This summer I’m watching:

CommonLaw and Fairly Legal on USA – already airing

Rizzoli& Isles on TNT – airs June 5

NecessaryRoughness and Royal Pains on USA – air June 6

Dallas on TNT – airs June 13 (I grew up watching the original Dallas. I’m curious to see if this one will measure up to the original.)

BurnNotice and Suits on USA – airs June 14

The Closer on TNT – airs July 9 (Last 6 episodes of the series.)

Covert Affair and White Collar on USA – airs July 10

What are you watching? Do you have summer shows you enjoy or do you spend your time reading or enjoying another hobby?

Recommended Read - Strip Tease by Karen Erickson

StripTease is a hot read. You will need a cool glass of water while reading. Janelle and Nate heat up the pages with their instant attraction to each other. Nate is a take charge guy who wants to protect Janelle. Janelle has never had anyone take care of her. Throw in obstacles like Janelle’s missing sister and a drug lord who killed Nate’s partner for a page turning you can’t put down.

Strip Tease is book 1.5 in the Protect and Defend series. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series, On Borrowed Service. This series gets better and better with each book.

Recommend this book at any reader looking for a sexy, hot book with a dash of suspense.

He can’t resist her…

Protect and Defend, Book 1.5

Covering yet again for her twin sister Ginger is the last thing Janelle wants to do. She’s trying to shed her former exotic dancer career, not maintain it. Discovering the guy she’s dancing for is an undercover cop on the hunt for her troubled sister scares her. This is the last thing she wants to deal with.

Nathan Banks is desperate to find Ginger for one reason only—he wants to nab her boyfriend, reputed drug lord and cold blooded murderer Billy Diaz. Hell bent on revenge after Diaz killed his partner, Nate doesn’t expect the beautiful blonde who tricked him to be much help. But he needs Janelle to find Ginger…

The smoldering attraction between them is undeniable. Fighting it is futile. As they go on the search for Ginger, they become closer to each other—and to danger.

Recommended Read - Hot Secrets by Lisa Renee Jones

Image via Lisa Renee Jones' website

Hot Secrets is the first book in the Tall, Dark, and Deadly series. Royce grabbed me from the beginning. He is a bossy, alpha male who is well written. He comes across as sexy and not arrogant.

Lauren is his perfect match. The two heat up the page. I loved the instant attraction between them. However, secrets threaten to destroy their relationship. Add in a stalker looking to harm Lauren for a page turning book.

Recommend this book to any reader looking for a hot romantic suspense. Hot Secrets is a hot read.

THE HERO: Royce Walker—the oldest Walker brother and a former FBI Negotiator. The silent type, Royce urges others to talk, having learned there are far more rewards from listening than running his mouth. When he does speak, he doesn’t hold back, his opinions made readily available. He can be abrupt and tough, overbearing even. But none of this stops women from seeing the appeal of his rock hard six-foot-three frame and long, dark hair.

Royce Walker, a former FBI Agent, who’s opened a private security firm with his brothers, has always had the hots for the prim, proper Assistant District Attorney, but considered her hand’s off because of a family connection. However, when danger threatens Lauren, he isn’t willing to stand by and watch her get hurt. Now the passion for survival is only rivaled by the passion burning between them. And that passion, might just be the death of them both.

Check Out - Bound Temptations by Shiloh Walker

Check out Shiloh’s latest print book…

print duet featuring BEG ME and TEMPT ME
BEG ME
Beg me…there had been a time when those words made her burn with desire. But now, there was only fear.
Once, Tania Sinclair’s life was almost perfect…But a couple of tragedies later, she’s barely holding it together. A car accident took away her husband, and an attack from somebody she should have been able to trust has shaken not only her confidence, but it’s also stripped away her fantasies and even made it painful to look back on her memories of her husband without fear.
Two years after her attack, Tania is determined to take her life back and the first step is taking back herself…her fantasies, her dreams, her memories.
Falling for your best friend’s wife—never smart. Drake’s watched Tania quietly for years, watched her…wanted her, knowing he’d never have her. First, she was taken. And then, that night two years ago—a night that still scars her, a night that’s left bruises on her that still haven’t healed. He does what he can, though, because he loves her too much not to. He’s her friend, there when she needs him.
And now she needs him. She’s asked him for a favor…one that just about blows his mind…
Warning: This book involves light bondage play, rape fantasy & role-playing. The acts between the hero & heroine are consensual, but they may not be ideal for all readers…
TEMPT ME
Contemporary spicy romance
She’s a temptation he can’t resist…
Roxanne ‘Rocki’ Monroe’s life is full of secrets and hidden heartaches. Cole Stanton would love to heal her pain and chase away the ghosts of her past, but she’s just a complication he doesn’t have room for in his life.
Or so he thinks.
It doesn’t take Cole long to realize he’s more than willing to let temptation get the best of him, more than happy to deal with complications if that’s what it takes to get her.
What he has and what he needs are two different things…and what he needs is Rocki.

TV Shows Season Finales

The month of May brings season finales for ABC and CBS TV shows. Years ago these finales meant a summer of repeat episodes so I would have a summer of reading.

A few years ago, USA Network began airing TV shows that hooked me in the summers. Add in a show or two on TNT that I watch and my summers are now spent watching TV as well as reading.

I love the TV shows and find it hard not to watch them. The downside is I don't have the time to read in the summer like I used to. I'm attempting to find a happy balance between the two this summer.

Do you prefer to read or watch TV? Or are you like me and try to balance both? Are you looking forward to the season finales of your favorite shows?

Recommended Read - Secrets Exposed by Lisa Renee Jones

Image from Lisa Renee Jones' website

Secrets Exposed captivated me from the beginning. I read the book off and on in a 12 hour period. I had to know how it ended. Who was the serial killer? How would Lindsey get past her issues to be with Mark?

The ending lived up to my expectations. The chemistry between Lindsey and Mark sizzled. However, their chemistry wasn’t enough to sustain their relationship. The past kept getting in their way. Lindsey had to work through her past in order to have a future with Mark. Lindsey and Mark stayed true to character throughout the book. It was fun to attempt to figure out the serial killer before the end. I’m happy to admit that I did figure it out.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I recommend it to anyone looking for a hot, sexy romantic suspense.

Her enemy is her passion, her passion is her enemy…

Lindsey Paxton was once the number one defense attorney in New York. She fought for those who were innocent, but charged. Her instincts were her lifeline, never failing her, as they guided her in her choices of who to defend. Or so she thought. Until she won a case she would forever wish to have lost. Her client, an accused rapist, kills and rapes a woman only a day after being set free. Destroyed by her role in the woman’s death, Lindsey blames her father’s controlling ways for what she has become, and runs from her career and life. Years later – the past becomes the present . . .

Her father has cancer, and Lindsey is forced to leave her career with the Washington branch of the FBI. She finds herself facing the responsibility of running her father’s law firm with the reluctant help of hotshot attorney Mark Reeves, a man who sparks her temper while also managing to tempt her heart. With his help she finds herself fighting the emotional battles of the past, tempted to trust both him and her instincts. Now, faced with a case inherited from her father so similar to her career-ending one, she now must decide if her instincts will lead her down the path to saving an innocent man or setting free another killer. But while she fights her own battles, someone watches, wanting from the past what he had failed to get the first time . . . Lindsey.

Castle's Season Finale

Tonight is the episode four seasons in the making on Castle. The season finale brings a promise of giving us Castle and Beckett fans the moment we've anticipated for awhile.

I'll admit a few episodes ago I was unhappy. Castle let Beckett lying about not remembering everything when she was shot to go on as a misunderstanding. A simple conversation would have resolved it. Last week's episodes was well done and made up for the previous two episodes. I liked how they talked about it without talking about it.

Here's hoping tonight's Castle episode exceeds my expectations.  Plus, I'm happy to have McGarrett back on tonight's Hawaii Five-0. I've missed him the past two episodes.

Do you watch Castle? What are your expectations for tonight's season finale?

Recommended Read - Under His Protection by Karen Erickson

Image from Karen Erickson's website

Under His Protection is the first book in the Protect and Defend series. I was hooked from the beginning. The chemistry between Blake and Mason sizzles off the page. The push and pull of Mason fighting his desire for Blake and attempting to stay strictly professional is well written and intriguing to see how he will finally give in. This is a romance so we all know he gives in.

The question that kept me turning the pages in beginning of the book was how he would give in. Once Mason gave in, I was hooked to find out how they would come to terms with their attraction and get their happily ever after.

I’m looking forward to the next book in the series. A must read for anyone looking for a hot, contemporary romance.

He’ll protect her at any cost…

Protect and Defend, Book 1

Protecting the vice president’s daughter is Secret Service agent Mason Russell’s top priority. With the election looming and the party’s hold shaky, Mason’s been given an important assignment – rein the controversial party girl Blake Hewitt in.

He’d like to rein Blake in all right. Keep her under his control and naked beneath him at all times. Blake is the sexiest thing he’s ever seen but she’s strictly off limits. Though she tempts him like no other.

Banished from the capital and sent far away to the family’s vacation home, Blake seizes her chance. She’ll make Mason hers no matter what it takes. But the noble Mason doesn’t make it easy, and danger lurks where they least expect it…

SHE WANTED TO TRUST HIM WITH HER SAFETY-BUT NOT WITH HER HEART...

No woman could deny the appeal of the sexy deputy sheriff Jonas Porter. But to Courtney Allen, Jonas has one major flaw-his badge. Years ago, Courtney's father was wrongfully convicted of a crime and she vowed to never trust a cop again. But when Jonas becomes the only man to believe in her father's innocence, Courtney begins seeing the brooding lawman in a whole new way.

Jonas knows in his gut that the real killer is still out there and determined to finish what he started long ago. To protect Courtney and bring the criminal to justice will require all the skills he can muster. And that means focusing on the job. Not the woman who makes him forget his troublesome past and arouses in him a passion that is anything but professional.
